Hi, my name is Shane Murphy, Catherine and I own Oaktree.
I have host of Electrical Engineering related qualifications, Health & Safety Designated Officer Training, Paediatric First Aid, Epi-Pen Training, Food Hygiene, Allergen Awareness Training, Manual handling Training.
18 years management in Oaktree.
I left school at 16 with very few qualifications, but I was lucky enough to get an apprenticeship with N.I.Electricity, it was there I developed a passion for learning. It’s this trigger point that I would like to replicate in Oaktree, creating the spark that lights a passion makes everything click, my goal is to let every child have that trigger point at some point within Oaktree .
In 1999, I left my teaching post in N.I.Electricity and joined Catherine, this is when I found my new passion for childcare. In recent years I designed and built our new building, this is when I developed a new interest for intergrating Eco ideas into design and construction. Over the years I have also been involved in some local community groups, this had influenced another aspect of our design, shared usage for social enterprise. A few friends and myself started our non profit business, ‘Kids on a Roof Family Centre’, its goal is to enhance the lives of local children.
Working closely with many children over the years I have developed a special interest with kids on the autistic spectrum and additional needs. I have also developed a lead role in introducing the kids to media, coding and Eco activities.
My wife Catherine and I have always lived onsite, so we are always here in case that favourite teddy has been left behind at the end of the day. We are blessed with four wonderful children of our own, so my free time is spent doing the normal family stuff and lots of club runs!
